Hold the “e” key down if you must place an accent over an “e” during the use of the virtual keyboard of the iPhone. Following a brief pause a pop-up window will offer you the choice for which accent you want for different languages. You can accomplish this with a few characters that are special like the question mark, the exclamation point, and the dollar sign.
